Developing successful executive teams

Success story: Building teams for effective leadership

Faced with unprecedented and challenging market conditions, the UK leadership team of one of the world’s most recognised brands needs to onboard new members and integrate them quickly and successfully. Already a group of talented individuals, the executive team is working hard but this hasn’t so far translated into better business results. The largest contributor to group revenue, they are under massive pressure to deliver on business plans.

Our approach

teamGenie® delivered a bespoke team coaching programme centred on the use of our award winning team effectiveness tool. We helped the executive team understand and leverage its individual and collective strengths, streamline its design and processes, and agree on its common purpose and what, as a group, they contributed to the wider business. Additionally, through mentoring and shadowing activities, we helped the organisation develop an in-house coach, equipped to take the benefits of coaching to the wider organisation.

The result

As a result of in-person and virtual coaching the team was able to focus on deliverables while increasing individual members’ commitment to the group. We helped the executive team establish and achieve mission-critical short-term priorities. By changing its size and composition, the team reduced lengthy meeting times and improved the speed of decision-making. Team members were empowered to take ownership of challenges, reducing stress on the team leader and freeing up capacity. The internal team coaching capability developed with an in-house coach who could replicate the benefits of coaching to other teams in the business. Coaching is still ongoing but the team leader reports positive results, with the team working more explicitly towards shared goals, increased member contribution and better efficiency. The team is starting to see tangible results.

Client testimonial

“Amidst all the pressures of turning around a complex and underperforming business, it is easy for executive team development to slip down the agenda. teamSalient® was invaluable in helping me, and our team coach, identify our innate strengths and focus attention on some essential areas for action. It is work in progress, but work that the executive team owns and that is raising the pace and quality of leadership”.
